Global reports: united struggles against racism and the far-right

We are publishing here a series of accounts of effective united struggles against racism and the far-right in different countries.

They include some very varied examples of the effectiveness of united, broad based movements.

These have not only shown their potential to push back hate; they also confirm the capacity of ordinary people —in many different situations— to build solidarity in the face of division. They are a sign that we can stop the rise of racism and the far right, that those of us who oppose them are a majority… if we organise ourselves and act.

These are not recipes to try to imitate exactly. Rather they offer more general lessons that can be learnt from, so as to inspire and inform other struggles, in different contexts and places.

The texts have been prepared as part of a process coordinated with the Institute of Inequalities and supported by the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation.

These reports are not to be taken as representing the views of either of these bodies, nor of World Against Racism and Fascism. The content is the responsibility of the author, David Karvala.

They will eventually be published in the form of a report. However, it seemed useful to publish the texts virtually, as and when each one is completed, rather than waiting for the whole publication to be ready.
