London Calling: global action against racism and fascism
This weekend, 16 and 17 November, hundreds of people from across Britain and from at least 15 countries around the world came together in London to discuss building an international response to both far-right and fascist parties, as well as Islamophobia, antisemitism and every form of racism, xenophobia and anti-migrant hate.
On Sunday 17 November, activists from movements in the global north, south, east and west met to turn this into concrete proposals, and to strengthen and extend the global network, World Against Racism and Fascism.
We gathered in a very urgent situation, in the shadow of the electoral victory of Donald Trump, the recent advance of fascists and the far-right across Europe, and the endless racist death toll on the borders, especially of Fortress Europe. But also in a city, London, that has repeatedly seen tens of thousands of people mobilising against and pushing back the racist far-right.
As representatives of movements in different continents, we call on progressive people and movements around the planet, on all those who oppose racism and fascism, to mobilise a united response to a mortal threat to us all.
We must confront and defeat those who promote hatred and division, with broad movements based on diversity, solidarity and unity.
We call for a global day of action against racism and fascism, in towns and cities around the world, in both the global north and south, on and around Saturday, 22 March 2025, for UN Antiracism Day. We also call for actions to build for that, such as International migrants’ day, 18 December, and in support of the 18 January protests against Trump in the USA.
There are times in history when we have to stand up and be counted and this is one of those times. The situation is serious and urgent, but we are the majority; we can win. ¡No Pasarán!
London, 17 November 2024
Note: the weekend involved people from Barbados, Britain, Canada, Catalunya, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Japan, Norway, Poland, South Africa, Tunisia, USA…
We ask movements, networks and organisations of all types to sign this global call for action:
