Worldwide coordination against racism and the far-right

World Against Racism and Fascism, the international network of united movements against the far right and all forms of racism, held a successful coordinating meeting on Sunday 22 October, in London and virtually.

It was attended by activists from movements in Catalunya, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Japan, Poland and the USA as well as the Collective Against Islamophobia in Europe, based in Belgium.

The meeting shared a grave concern about the current situation in the world, and specifically with the dramatic growth of racism and the far right.

It agreed, among other things, to call for:

  • protests in the maximum number of countries possible, during the week beginning 16 March 2024, to mark UN Antiracism Day, as part of the strengthening and extension of the international network.
  • actions on or around the 18 December, to mark International Migrants’ Day. These actions could also be linked to the Amnesty International investigation into the tragic massacre of 600 people in the Mediterranean in Pylos in Greece, with a report due to be delivered to Greek authorities on 14 December.

Further details of these events will be published over the coming weeks.
